In 2018 I went on a solo 5-month trip to Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore. These countries and Myanmar, East Timor, Brunei and the Philippines are part of Southeast Asia. I have to admit that the Indochina Peninsula and the Malay Archipelago are a paradise for budget travelers.
Prices in Southeast Asia:
Street food or a meal in a local restaurant will cost you on average between $ 1 and $ 2.5. You have to watch over in Singapore - in the Indian quarter you will eat dinner for 2.5 dollars, but in the center for a sandwich in a cafe you can pay even 16 dollars.
Accommodation in a hostel in Thailand or Vietnam can sometimes be found for even $ 2 (on average from 4 to 6 dollars). The cheapest in Singapore will cost you around $ 18.
In five months in Southeast Asia, I spent about 3.500 euro on everything (accommodation, food, attractions, including plane tickets from and to Poland). To this amount you should add the cost of insurance (then about 230 euro) and vaccines before travel (over 500 euro!). I used Couchsurfing and Helpx several times, which allowed me to save some money.
